Every year, August 15th comes around and we think about the big picture independence, progress, pride. We wave flags, we watch the parade, we remember the people who made it possible.
But I’ve been thinking about the small picture too. The everyday kind of freedom. The one you can actually feel.
Like getting up from your desk without feeling guilty.
Or saying, “I need five minutes,” and actually taking them.
Or choosing to go for a walk instead of staring at your screen just because the clock says it’s “work time.”
We often talk about flexibility at work, remote options, flexible hours. They’re important, but they’re not the whole story. Because you can still feel stuck even when you’re at home.
Real freedom is being able to move when your body asks you to. It’s knowing you won’t be judged for stretching, standing, or taking a breather. It’s being trusted to take care of yourself and still get the job done.
At ilumina Health, that’s the kind of culture we believe in. One where people aren’t glued to a chair all day, and where health isn’t treated like an afterthought.
This Independence Day, I hope you find moments of freedom that have nothing to do with public holidays or office policy and everything to do with how you feel, every single day.
